Birdwatching
While Bandhavgarh National Park is world-famous for the magnificent Bengal Tiger, the park and the surrounding area are also a delightful haven for birdwatchers. The diverse ecosystem—ranging from high cliffs and mixed deciduous forests to wetlands and open grasslands—provides habitats for over 250 species of birds, making it a fantastic destination for ornithological enthusiasts.
The birdlife here is vibrant and varied, including migratory species and resident forest dwellers. Look out for raptors like the Crested Serpent Eagle and various vultures soaring above the Bandhavgarh Fort. Closer to the ground, you may spot the striking Indian Pitta, the colorful Malabar Pied Hornbill, or the endemic Jungle Babblers near the forest trails. The perennial water sources, such as the spring near Shesh Shaiyya, also attract diverse aquatic and woodland birds.
Birding from The Sarai Resort
The Sarai Resort offers a uniquely peaceful base for birdwatching. While the park is the primary focus, our own 5-acre property—populated with over 300 trees—attracts numerous common and garden birds.
